On Monday 26th November, Shine’s DVFREE & Policy Advisor Holly Carrington, presented a DVFREE Tick certificate to the Parliamentary Service General Manager David Stevenson at an event for the Service’s staff.
The Parliamentary Service provides administrative and support services to members of Parliament and the House of Representatives. The Service is the largest agency on the parliamentary precinct employing more than 700 staff, including 247 people who are based in out-of-Parliament offices around the country.
“We know that one in three women in New Zealand are affected by domestic violence. It is our duty as a responsible employer to ensure our people feel safe and supported at work,” said David Stevenson. “Shine’s programme has given us the knowledge and tools to be confident in how we respond to any of our people who experience domestic violence.”
Shine’s DVFREE Policy Advisor Holly Carrington said, “The Parliamentary Service has a critical role in supporting members of Parliament. Its dedication to this programme means its part of the nationwide solution to prevent future domestic violence, as well as retaining valuable people, and keeping them safe and well.”
