Shine Events

Come and Join ‘Team Shine’ for Ports of Auckland Round the Bays 2019 and make your run count. As part of Shine's ‘Light it Orange’ appeal week, join us on the start line on Sunday 3rd March 2019! 

Run, jog or walk with your family, friends, or work colleagues along the stunning 8.4km course from Quay Street along the Waitemata harbour to a spectacular finish along St Heliers Bay.

You will help raise awareness of family violence here in NZ, and of course raise much needed funds to help victims of family violence get safe and stay safe.

With your help, we hope to raise $10,000 which will support over 1,400 calls to Shine’s Helpline for support, advice and safety planning.

Joining ‘Team Shine’ is super easy:

1. Firstly enter yourself at www.roundthebays.co.nz and select ‘Shine’ from the list of charities.

2. Join the team here to activate your place in ‘Team Shine’ with your own online fundraising page.

As part of ‘Team Shine’ for the Ports of Auckland Round the Bays 2019, we will support you with:

• Shine ‘Light it Orange’ T-shirt when you raise over $250 (the cost of supporting a family escaping an abusive home)
• Online fundraising web page & support
• ‘Light it Orange’ support crew to cheer you on the day
• Post-race hospitality and celebration with the Shine team

Join the team by setting up your own fundraising page here and ask your friends and family to sponsor your Auckland Marathon.  

We challenge you personally to raise over $1,000 to change lives in your community.  In return, we will give you: 

• support with links to training plans
• fundraising support
• a chance to meet and train with other Team Shine members
• invites to a pre Marathon events 
• plus, we’ll look after you at the finish line!

Just in case you need more motivation...

• For every $250 raised, you will change lives  and help one family get safe and stay safe, by covering the cost of an advocate's urgent callout to a victim at home or in hospital following an arrest, and then the first KIDshine advocate home visit with the victim's children. So we encourage you to aim high!
• When you have raised $500 we will give you a free ‘I Don’t Sweat, I Shine*’ running t-shirt
• When you have raised $1,000 we will refund your entry fee to the Auckland Marathon
